The most bizarre security fix in history

McAfee’s security flaw fix non-disclosure defense is absolutely the best we’ve ever heard. Microsoft, take note.

The security firm’s getting a little heat for just now publicizing an ePolicy Orchestrator flaw, something it “accidentally” fixed 6 months ago, which is, like, 2.5 years in Internet security time. McAfee’s defense: We didn’t know there was a flaw. And we didn’t know we fixed it.

“We didn’t really realize we fixed the problem,” chief software architect John ViegaViega told the AP. “We fixed one, but it was by accident.”

In other news, McAfee also reports it didn’t inhale.
