The ashes of James Doohan are finally heading into orbit in October.
Scotty’s remains will be rocketed into the stratosphere with that of about 100 other deceased. Then, in a curious move, the rocket will head back to Earth…with the remains.
Scotty’s ashes will go back up in December or January, where they’ll stay in orbit until they drop back toward Earth “and burn up on re-entry,” writes The BBC. Eww.
No idea why Doohan gets a return trip, but his family is holding a ceremony before the first flight, which will be open to fans.
