As part of its Stop Badware initiative, Google will start warning users before they click on potentially harmful sites, like this one.
Those who click on site links known to host malware, adware, spyware and the whole “ware” lot will get a “Sure you want to go to this site?”-type warning.
BBC News reports that initial warnings will be generic, but will become more detailed as reseachers visit malware sites and “analyse how they try to subvert users’ machines.”
Google, Lenovo and Sun formed the Stop Badware group in January 2006.
