Regular Layer 8 readers know we don’t like robots. Didn’t like ’em in “Lost In Space” and we don’t want ’em vaccuuming our floors. Because the next step is world domination.
So you won’t be surprised to here we’re not excited about the “Winebot” coming out of Japan.
Coming out of The Land of the Exploding Laptop, the robot can identify wines, cheeses and hors d’oeuvres.
“There are all kinds of robots out there doing many different things,” said Hideo Shimazu, joint-leader of the robot project. “But we decided to focus on wine because that seemed like a real challenge.”
What? A real challenge is curing cancer, not telling us that pigs in a blanket do not complement shiraz. The world already has enough wine snobs, we don’t need robot wine snobs, too.
