Google takes up NYC city block

Much like George Jefferson, Google’s movin’ on up. But not to the East Side, rather near Union Station. But for Pete’s sake it’s eating an entire city block, so that’s gotta count for something. Google moved into its new NYC offices this week, which comprise “a 300,000-square foot, three-floor office that covers a Manhattan city block,” notes the AP. The office is located in a building that spans Eighth Avenue to Ninth Avenue and 15th Street to 16th Street. The AP also offers this “House Beautiful” review: “The workspace is light and airy and built around the concept of working in teams, with people sharing offices and cubicles connected in groups. Along with a cafeteria and a game room, there are snack stations throughout the office.” While the snack stations sound cool, it seems a little underwhelming for the behemoth, you figure it’d just buy the Empire State Building or something.
