Boy Scouts create illegal download merit badge

The Motion Picture Association of America, still pretty cranky about illegal downloads, has brought in the big guns – The Boy Scouts. Los Angeles Scouts will soon have the opportunity to earn a merit badge in copyright law and the evils of downloading illegal music and movies. OK, this has to be a joke, right? “Scouts will be instructed in the basics of copyright law and learn how to identify five types of copyrighted works and three ways copyrighted materials may be stolen,” reports The AP. “Scouts also must choose one activity from a list that includes visiting a movie studio to see how many people can be harmed by film piracy. They also can create public service announcements urging others not to steal movies or music.” Via My Way News
