Bloggers seek to ditch sweatpants, basements

Bloggers want to be taken seriously, as they all write about the same four stories of the day from their basements, in their sweatpants (if they’re wearing pants at all). And lest you think we’re the pot calling the kettle black, we’re in our sweatpants right now, in the basement, writing about the same story as everyone else. Robert Cox is president of the Media Bloggers Association and… Wait, there’s a frickin’ Media Bloggers Association? Gimme a break. USA Today writes about the “MBA” outlining new criteria for membership, including: “…undergoing training or demonstrating other work as professional journalists.” Here’s a secret, bloggers: Professional journalists want to be like you, writing about the same low-hanging fruit, from their basements, in their sweatpants.
