The Ipod and iTunes sites took a header this week as hordes of folks deluged the sites with music requests apparently from gift cards. You’d think they’d have seen that one coming. Typically Apple didn’t want to comment on the flub nor did they want to confirm how many customers were left out in the cold. Traffic indeed was heavy over the holiday, with more than four times as many people visiting the iTunes Web site on Christmas than at the same time last year, online market researcher Hitwise said.
