The new Ford Restart

Ok, it’s early in the year (and early in the day for that matter) and we’ll take the low hanging fruit whenever possible. Ford today is set to announce a partnership with Microsoft to boost wireless connectivity in cars and trucks. Specifically the wireless program could be called Sync and will allow for hands-free cell phone communication and other wireless information transfers inside the car, including the ability to receive email and download music.  The obvious joke would be well, now Ford customers will have to stop their car every 5,000 miles or so and restart (c’mon you smirked a little)…but my main question is are people living in the cars more? I mean is sending and receiving email and downloading music from the car necessary?  I know commutes and many cities borders on the ridiculous but some of this stuff just seems superfluous.  Could just be me though.
