The Darwin Awards competition for 2007 is apparently well under way. A Reuter’s report this week told of a 63-year-old retired German construction foreman decided he’d had enough of the moles digging up his garden so he decided to electrocute them…You can probably guess the result. After wiring up his lawn with a 380-volt cable linked to metal spikes in the ground, he electrocuted himself. The moles as you might imagine, survived. In the understatement of the day, a police spokesperson said: “It was in any event an unorthodox method to try to get rid of moles.”
