Ok, who has The Bay City Rollers as a ringtone?

They are a real distant recollection here at Layer 8 but, 1970’s band The Bay City Rollers have filed a lawsuit against Arista Records for what they claim are millions of dollars owed them for unpaid royalties from their music. Who knew? I mean really, in the United States they had one poppy hit – S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages on behalf of six band members who started the group in Edinburgh in 1967. The suit says Arista has not paid them royalties from their music for 25 years and that the record company has continued to see profits from their albums, merchandise, commercial rights, films and ringtones. Reuters reports that the band’s world-wide fame never translated into much financial success because of low royalty rates and the fact that the band did not write some of its biggest overseas hits, such as “Shang-A-Lang” and “I Only Wanna Be With You.”
