STEC on Tuesday rolled out its third-generation 4Gb Fibre Channel ZeusIOPS solid state drives. The single-level cell (SLC) and multi-level cell (MLC) SSDs deliver 80,000 IOPS on random reads and 40,000 IOPS on random writes. They are available in a 3.5-inch form factor and 3x faster than the company’s second-generation SSDs. Now with the addition of MLC, the new SSDs will cost less than second-generation SSDs. Further STEC announced that its MACH8IOPS SSDs are now integrated into IBM’s System x servers.
