CA survey finds enterprises understand need for virtualization management

According to a recent study by Computer Associates, including data collected from 323 IT organizations in North America, increasing server virtualization is creating the demand for more management tools. The study found that 72% of respondents are virtualizing production servers, and of those, 58% had stopped implementation at some point in order to revise management procedures. Sixty-four percent expressed comfort in virtualized business-critical servers. The study identified recommendations including host access, configuration and provisioning controls, configuration standardization, provisioning with approved build images, configuration discovery, change approval, change tracking and performance management.
