Dell, Brocade and Scalent are announcing a partnership agreement to incorporate Brocade’s Fibre Channel, Ethernet and Fibre Channel over Ethernet host bus adapters and switches into Dell’s products. Scalent software will be used to manage the new Dell data center announcement. Specifically Dell will rebrand Brocade’s Ethernet NetIron and ServerIron switches and its DCX-4S and top-of-the-rack Fibre Channel over Ethernet switches and blades. The company will also rebrand Scalent’s resource management software, which abstracts the physical bindings between servers, network and storage. The partnership puts Dell directly in competition with Cisco, HP and IBM for data center infrastructure.
