NetApp on Tuesday introduced the FAS2020 and FAS2040 entry-level storage system, which supports CIFS and NFS, as well as block- and file-level support. Using internal Serial Attached SCSI or Serial ATA drives, the FAS2020 and FAS2040 make use of the Data ONTAP operating system and are available in 2U (3.5-inch) high, 12-drive configurations. The FAS2020 has a maximum raw capacity of 68TB; the FAS2040 scales to 136TB. The systems start at $7,920 and are available now.
