Spectra Logic announces LTO-5 trade-up program

Spectra Logic on Monday unveiled its Linear Tape Open 5 pre-purchase program, which lets customers receive LTO-4 drives for use until LTO-5 technology becomes available. LTO-5 is expected to ship next April. Spectra claims that its LTO-5 drives will include a dual-port, native 8Gbit Fibre Channel Interface and have a native capacity of 1.5TB and a transfer rate of up to 140MBps.
