Samsung Solid State Drives selected for HP ProLiant Servers

Samsung on Thursday announced that its 60G and 120GB solid state drives have been selected as an option across the entire range of HP ProLiant G6 servers and select ProLiant G5 servers. By using single-level-cell 3Gbps Serial ATA SSDs instead of 10,000 or 15,000 RPM hard disk drives, depending on workload, the SSDs can be up to 40 to 50 times faster and use about one-fifth of the energy. The SSD is rated for random read commands at 25,000 IOPS and random writes at 6,000 IOPS. It has a sequential read speed of 230MBps and a sequential write speed of 180MBps.
