HP on Monday announced that it has already met its energy reduction goal of 25% compared with 2005 by the year 2010, and has established reductions of its energy use and carbon intensity in operations and products. HP’s new goal is to reduce the energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of all its products to 40% below 2005 levels by the end of 2011. Further, HP’s goal is to reduce GHG emissions from HP-owned and HP-leased facilities 20% under 2005 levels by 2013. HP cited its line of ProLiant servers and Energy-Star rated power supplies, along with energy management systems as major contributions to this effort.
