ScaleMP announced Wednesday benchmarking results for x86 systems using vSMP Foundation software. VSMP Foundation claimed top five results for two Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) benchmarks, representing more than a 10x improvement over the best results available for x86 shared memory systems. VSMP Foundation enables the creation of a virtual shared memory system by aggregating multiple industry-standard servers, providing up to 32 processors (128 cores) and 4TB of shared memory, allowing users to leverage entry-level systems for high-performance computing applications. Resulting benchmarks were SPECint_rate_base2006, which achieved 3,150 copies, and SPECfp_rate_base2006 which achieved 2,550 copies based on 16 dual-socket systems, aggregated into a single virtual shared-memory system.
