ScaleMP announces SPEC benchmark results

ScaleMP announced Wednesday benchmarking results for x86 systems using vSMP Foundation software. VSMP Foundation claimed top five results for two Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) benchmarks, representing more than a 10x improvement over the best results available for x86 shared memory systems. VSMP Foundation enables the creation of a virtual shared memory system by aggregating multiple industry-standard servers, providing up to 32 processors (128 cores) and 4TB of shared memory, allowing users to leverage entry-level systems for high-performance computing applications. Resulting benchmarks were SPECint_rate_base2006, which achieved 3,150 copies, and SPECfp_rate_base2006 which achieved 2,550 copies based on 16 dual-socket systems, aggregated into a single virtual shared-memory system.
