Marathon Technologies Monday released the results of a global survey showing that more than half of the respondents indicated a high percentage of their Windows server applications require ‘Always On’ availability. Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange Server were cited as the two most important Windows Server applications. The survey found that more than 70% of participants revealed that the number of Windows Server applications that require high availability has increased significantly in the past two years. Seventy-six percent of the respondents reported that downtime to Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange Server caused the most disruption. Marathon has developed a set of high availability planning and implementation tools designed for companies upgrading or implementing Windows 2008.
