Last week NetApp and Desktone announced that the Desktone Virtual-D Platform is now integrated with the NetApp Data ONTAP operating system, giving service providers a storage solution for their desktops-as-a-service (DaaS) offerings. Virtual-D provides virtual desktop capability to cloud users while NetApp deduplication technology reduces redundant data and NetApp’s intelligent caching and Performance Acceleration Module (PAM) can reduce disk input/output operations while improving hosted virtual desktop performance. The combined solution is available immediately and requires purchase of both NetApp and Virtual D components from the appropriate supplier.
