NEC Computers announced last week the NEC Express5800/ECO Center platform dedicated to virtualization and reduced energy consumption. The system features an architecture with cabling that improves air flow for efficient cooling, reduced thermal footprint components, solid state drives and processors that consume only 60 watts. High performance power supplies allow an electricity conversion rate of 92%, against 70-80% for traditional power supplies. Included in the platform is the SigmaSystemCenter operating tool for power management and ease of network and storage integration.
