EMC on Tuesday announced that it has enhanced its EMC CLARiiON CX4 storage systems with virtualization aware features. Among the enhancements are EMC Navisphere’s awareness of virtualized environments, which can automatically discover and maintain relationships between logical and physical machines. In addition, the CLARiiON CX4 now supports 10Gbps iSCSI and 8Gbps Fibre Channel UltraFlex connectivity. SCSI and Fibre Channel can be intermixed withing the same array. The company also announced that the array will incorporate Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) technology next year. Further, EMC announced that its RecoverPoint data protection environment now can manage replicated storage for physical and virtual machines and that a new version of Replication Manager now is also virtualization-aware. 8Gbit/sec. Fibre Channel is available now; 10Gbps iSCSI is expected to be available in the third quarter of this year. The new versions of Navisphere Manager and RecoverPoint are available now. Replication manager is also expected in the third quarter.
