Last week we told you about the world’s most sought-after tech employee – Kai-Fu Lee.
Google hired Lee away from Microsoft, which sued its former VP to bar him from working for the search engine giant, citing Lee’s signed non-compete clause. Yesterday a Seattle judge sided with Microsoft, enacting a temporary restraining order that keeps Lee from doing any work at Google that’s similar to what he did in Redmond.
The really interesting stuff is found in the court documents filed by Google, which cites a conversation Lee says he had with Gates:
“Lee said that in a July 15 meeting, Gates told him, ‘Kai-Fu, (CEO) Steve (Ballmer) is definitely going to sue you and Google over this. He has been looking for something like this, someone at a VP level to go to Google. We need to do this to stop Google.’ “

The matter will continue in court Sept. 6.
