British IT site The Register reports that the Internet Explorer 7 beta, which went into release yesterday, will automatically nuke your Google or Yahoo toolbars and nicely install MSN as the default search engine.
Curiously, other third-party ad- or pop-up blocker tool bars seem to work fine.
The Reg says there are “sound compatibility reasons” for such a move as IE7 is only in beta, but will the pettiness remain in the final product?
