The government’s telework shuffle

When it comes to telework the government often talks out of both sides of its mouth. It says on one hand it wants as many of its workers as possible to telecommute, but often many mangers don’t ultimately support it. For example, a survey released last year by government-focused IT vendor CDW Government, found that 28% of federal IT workers surveyed said they believe that their agency provides IT support to all eligible teleworkers, up from just 5% of respondents in 2005. Being the government I guess that’s no big surprise but still. Today we find that the Government Accountability Office said the Patent and Trademark Office could indeed use tax money to reimburse teleworkers for at-home Internet access. Seems logical.
