Aptare updates StorageConsole
Brocade on Wednesday introduced a portfolio of new 8Gb Fibre Channel adapters and switches and a new server virtualization bundle for HP’s BladeSystem platform. The company introduced an HP-branded 8Gb Fibre Channel HBA mezzanine adapter – the Brocade 804 — that supports Server Application Optimization (SAO) and integrates with the HP StorageWorks Data Center Fabric Manager.

The company also announced the HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 Modular Smart Array Virtualization SAN Starter Kit which consists of an 8Gb P2000 G3 FC MSA storage array, six 8Gb StorageWorks B-series HBAs, two 8Gb HP StorageWorks B-series Fibre Channel switches and two software licenses per switch which enable SAO and Brocade Adaptive Networking. In addition, Brocade introduced the HP StorageWorks B-series Data Center SAN Director 64-port 8Gb Fibre Channel Blade, which has as many as 1,536 ports in a three-chassis configuration.
Further HP introduced three HP ProLiant rack-mount servers with up to 2TB of memory and seven new HP ProLiant G7 server blades with as much as 1TB of memory and integrated 10Gb Virtual Connect FlexFabric technology, which connects servers to any Fibre Channel, Ethernet or iSCSI network.
HP also introduced deduplication technology called StoreOnce, which is integrated into its D2D backup systems.
Aptare last week also updated its StorageConsole storage resource management software with the addition of a centralized Web 2.0 console. The company also added SAN fabric reporting which gives storage administrators a view of their backup, primary storage, virtualization, replication and SAN environments.
