Yesterday, we reported uncovering the “Bill Gates’ Top Searches” Mystery. Long story short, last Friday we found a spot on the new MSN homepage called Bill Gates’ Top Searches, listing Legos and “technology” among others. We called the Microsoft PR folks to inquire as to whether that’s really what Bill’s typing into the search box. When we went back yesterday to see what Bill was currently searching for, the whole box was gone.
An MSN spokesperson did respond to us yesterday and offered the following:
“Bill Gate’s [sic] Top Searches on MSN.com is simply a glimpse at Bill’s current favorite topics he searched on. The ‘pets’ and ‘legos’ search are for his kids, ‘vaccines’ is in reference to the Bill Gates Foundation, ‘technology’ is a general interest of his, and ‘bridge’ is one of his hobbies.”
Uh, huh. MSN says the feature was only “temporary” and was not intended to be a permanent feature. Hmmmm….
