Microsoft’s insanely popular “Halo” video game series is headed to the big screen.
Variety reports that the software giant is bypassing major Hollywood studios, who have ruined nearly every video game movie made to date.
The paper says Redmond has hired Alex Garland, who wrote “28 Days Later” and adapted the novel “The Beach“, to meld the two “Halo” games into one movie.
“Garland’s screenplay will then be offered to studios as a complete ‘turnkey’ script and rights package,” the paper reports.
Here’s hoping it turns out better than Bob. Or, for that matter, “Mortal Kombat“.
