According to a blatantly obvious study by security vendor Akonix, 25% of users say they see IM as an excellent means of spreading gossip. The other 75% are lying. Of course you use IM! Are you going to yell it over the cube wall that one of your neighbors is sleeping around? Nooo. And can you use e-mail? No, that can come back to haunt you too. Instant messaging is nearly perfect. Yes, it too can be tracked, but the likely hood is much lower at this point. Just make sure you don’t accidentally send the instant message to the person you’re gossiping about.
