Netscape (remember them?) made a splash yesterday with the release of version 8.0 of its long-forgotten browser. Version 8 supposedly combined the best of Internet Explorer and Firefox by using a hybrid rendering engine with out the security risks. Just one problem: Within hours, version 8.0.1 was posted to fix over three dozen flaws in the original code. Doh! Even Microsoft can make it a full day without a patch for a new product. Guess that splash was a belly flop.
