Eighteen-year-old Paloma Stanley left the laptop in school a month ago and returned the next day to find it missing. Boston Community Leadership Academy officials said Stanley has to put a $300 down payment on the $700 laptop if she wants to receive her diploma with her classmates.
Stanley lives alone and is supporting herself via a part-time job, and hopes the school cuts her some slack, but it doesn’t sound forthcoming from Principal Nicole Bahnam.
”Those are the tough lessons in life,” Bahnam said. ”Nothing comes for free. Hello. We all work very hard.”
