Last year the City of Brotherly Love wanted to become the City of Free Wi-Fi, a move which put Verizon’s panties in a knot and scared the beejezus out of other wireless providers.
NW columnist Johna Till Johnson looks at the recent unholy alliance of carriers and cable companies, who are banding together to lobby Congress to ban municipally-provided Wi-Fi.
Right, because Congress has absolutely nothing else to do right now except save the masses from free Internet access. God almighty – they’ve even got some joker Congressman to sponsor a bill.
