Yahoo teams with NASA for Discovery mission

Weather-willing, the space shuttle Discovery will launch at 3:51 p.m. today, with Yahoo hosting “official coverage” of the 12-day mission.

The portal says it will offer live streams and 24-7 video footage, including takeoff, space walks and landing via the Yahoo home page and Yahoo News.

Yahoo says the deal represents one of NASA’s “first online media partnerships.” Yahoo will offer a co-branded (Ed. – Red alert! Buzzword to port! All hands to battlestations!) Windows Media Player that will roll the action, as well as the Yahoo and NASA Web sites.
