We here at the home of Layer 8 (Mass.) like to complain about our full-time pay, part-time work legislature, but we have nothing on our friends from Pennsylvania. After a 16% pay increase, members of the Pennsylvania legislature draw an annual salary of $79,500, second only to California at $99,000. But PA has double the number of legislators (253 compared to 120 in California) and a far smaller population. Do the math and PA guys get more for less. The $79,500 does not include the perks like staff and per diems either.
Who’s the least paid? This editor’s home state: New Hampshire. Each of the 453 legislators (most in the country) get a grand total of $200 for their TWO years of service.
