For the first time, Apple has revealed iTunes subscriber numbers, saying it has a base of 10 million account holders.
Apple honcho Steve Jobs noted yesterday that iTunes is “one of the largest Internet stores around” and “iTunes may be the second largest Internet store behind Amazon.com.”
Jobs also crowed that the average iTunes user buys 60 or so songs, “so it’s not people signing on, buying two songs and never coming back.”
Until yesterday, Apple kept subscriber base figures a secret, instead opting to publicize the total number of downloads, which now stands at 23 gazillion or so.
