
Problem is, the crew “inadvertently jammed a clock radio into the switch that opened the emergency channel,” thereby broadcasting the saucy flick over the Coast Guard’s emergency channel and blocking any distress or mayday calls.
The Coast Guard dispatched a boat to find the Oceania and alert it of the situation, and even contacted national TV network Channel Four, which was showing the movie. If the Coast Guard couldn’t get to the Oceania quickly, it was going to have Channel 4 run a message for the Oceania at the bottom of the movie alerting them to the problem. Luckily, the guard reached the Oceania in time.
