Google has raised the hackles of the Chinese government by refusing to continue to label Taiwan as a Chinese province on Google Maps.
After receiving complaints from a pro-independence group, the company dropped the words “a province of the People’s Republic of China” from its Taiwan map.
Google spokeswoman Debbie Frost said the move reflected a “regular update” of all map pages, rather than a deliberate effort to specifically update the Taiwan page.
Sure. Yet Google has refused to add the words “Party Central” over our house. Double standard.
