You probably don’t need another reason to want to avoid a prison stay, but here it is anyway: If you go to the Big House, technology will pass you by.
USA Today looks at the hurdles recently released prisoners face as they come out of prison after long jail terms into a gizmo- and gadget-filled world they may not recognize.
Such is the case of Marvin Calvin, who spent the past 10 years in jail and now doesn’t want anything to do with his kids MP3 players, portable gaming systems or the like.
“I won’t even sit down with them and play that little game thing because I don’t even know how to operate it,” he says.
The paper examines organizations that are helping ex-felons learn computer and Internet skills so they can have a shot at landing a decent job.
