It’s a slow news day, and 2. the calendar is coming to a close when the dictionary peeps announce their Word of the Year.This year, the honor goes to “podcast,” which will be added to the online version of the New Oxford American Dictionary next year.Erin McKean, editor-in-chief of the dictionary, says podcast was in the running last year but wordsmiths felt it was not well known enough.“This year it’s a completely different story. The word has finally caught up with the rest of the iPod phenomenon,” she notes.
