Fantastic data disaster stories

We love data disaster stories. Provided they don’t happen to us, that is. So we dig this story in The Register, in which UK data recovery firm Disklabs shares its list of the oddest requests for assistance. Our favorite: “My cat urinated on my laptop.” Now we’re been trying to get our cat to pee on our pathetic NW-issued hunk of junk for years, hoping we’d finally get a new one. But will Scratch (above) help us out? He will not. Other favorites: “We just sacked the IT manager and he started kicking the server,” “I was showing my friend how to delete data on the spare hard drive, but I deleted the wrong one,” and “My wife threw my laptop down a well.” Check out the story for more fun stories – all of which, incidentally, ended with Disklabs recovering the data.
